Rekall Films Announces First Wave of Titles Form ‘80s Hits to ‘90s Video Store Favourites

Miracle Media are delighted to announce the first wave of titles from its eagerly anticipated new label Rekall Films.
Launching with a slate that perfectly reflects Rekall’s anything-goes approach to genre cinema, the opening wave spans horror, martial arts, action and sci-fi, bringing together cult favourites from the 1980s with a selection of underseen gems from the golden age of 1990s direct-to-video.
An early Rekall release, The Puppet Master Collection will bring together the pint-sized terrors of Full Moon’s enduring killer-puppet franchise on Blu-ray. Our 14 disc, 13 film boxset will feature the original trilogy, eight sequels and two spins offs, many of which will be making their UK debuts. This limited edition release will be packaged in a rigid box with brand new writing on the films alongside much more, including hours of bonus material both archival and newly produced, as well as a brand new, never-before-seen feature length documentary on the series.
For martial arts fans we have a whole host of action heading to Rekall Films, launching with the 1994 adaptation of iconic arcade stalwart Double Dragon on Blu-ray. Producers took the classic brawler from the streets into a dystopian future with Billy and Jimmy Lee high kicking their way through to a face-off with Robert Patrick’s evil tycoon / last boss Koga Shuko. Our Double Dragon release features fantastic new arcade cabinet inspired artwork by illustrator Matthew Brazier, with limited edition booklet and O-ring alongside a fantastic range of bonus content. The Rekall martial arts thrills don’t stop there, as we have a UK debut for Showdown (1993), delivering a nostalgic blast of 1980s-style martial arts mayhem.
Taking more than a little bit of inspiration from the familiar underdog formula of The Karate Kid, the addition of the direct to video feel really piqued the interest of cult film fans. Showdown will feature brand new artwork by illustrator Matthew Brazier with Tae-Bo legend Billy Banks taking centre stage. The package will also feature new bonus content including an interview with star Ken Scott, limited edition booklet and O-ring.
Also landing later this year as part of the first wave of titles come a couple of mid-90s action thrillers. From B-movie icon Albert Pyun comes Mean Guns (1997) on Blu-ray. With hip-hop legend Ice-T and star of the Highlander series, Christopher Lambert going head-to-head in a high stakes, winner takes all fight to the death. With its prison setting Pyun takes what could be quite a generic set up and creates a strange but exciting and ambitious work of 90s action with a bizarre but enjoyable mambo inspired score.
Late 2026 will also see the arrival of Sabotage (1996) on Blu-ray. Often overlooked, Sabotage is about as 90s as it gets. With a cast that boasts horror icon Tony Todd (Candyman), noughties superstar Carrie Anne-Moss (The Matrix) and B-movie legend Mark Dacascos (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum) Sabotage has it all: espionage, conspiracy, martial arts and gunplay. More than simply a succession of action set pieces and genre clichés, Sabotage is great piece of video store fun. Both Mean Guns and Sabotage will be packed with bonus content and feature brand new artwork by illustrator Mark Bell with O-rings and booklets included in the limited edition runs.
Rounding out the first wave is the UK debut of Watchers (1988) on Blu-ray. Based on the novel of the same name by Dean Koontz, Watchers is A wonderfully odd work, part creature feature, part boy-and-his-dog adventure, part government conspiracy thriller with huge cult pedigree. Starring the late Corey Haim in the lead role alongside his faithful companion Furface (Sandy the Dog) they go head-to-head with the always excellent and frightening Michael Ironside, all the while being stalked by a beast known only as OXCOM. With Roger Corman serving as executive producer Watchers is a fine example of the strangeness of 80s genre cinema, combining horror, sci-fi, action and family adventure. Our release will feature multiple new interviews with cast and crew, stunning new artwork by illustrator Colin Murdoch on the limited-edition O-ring, with a limited edition booklet also included on the first print run.
Early 2027 will see the arrival of a double dose of Brussels’ finest with releases of Jean-Claude Van Damme pair Black Eagle and A.W.O.L: Absent Without Leave aka Lionheart . Black Eagle was released in 1988 with JCVD on the verge of becoming a superstar, with Bloodsport arriving the same year followed by Cyborg and Kickboxer in ‘89. A rare outing as the villain of the piece, Van Damme is in fine form, high kicking his way through bodies in a sharp suit and killer shades. Meanwhile, 1990’s A.W.O.L is peak Van Damme, a hero doing the honourable thing despite the consequences, going A.W.O.L to make the transatlantic journey to see his dying brother and to seek revenge, only to end up in an underground fighting ring. An over-the-top post 80s action thriller and a true JCVD classic!
